Hello, 3rd grade!
I know things are weird for you right now, but with all the extra time we get to
spend at home it's a great time to pick up a few more books and read away!
Read to your parents, your siblings, your dog, the mail man!
Read in the living room, your room, the kitchen, or the dining room,
any where in your home is going to be perfect for reading.
If you need any suggestions for a good next book, let me know and we can find one together.
In the mean time, your task for this week is to learn about
expressive reading and how to use it in our readings.
Let's start off by standing up and dancing along with Blazer Fresh on GoNoodle!

Wahoo! That was fun!
Now it's time for us to 'flip your switch' and read with expression!
In the button below I have an example of how to read with expression;
watch as Neil Scott Barbour reads a poem by Shel Silverstein with his best expression reading.

Let's review 'expression'.
What is expression?
How do we identify when we need to read with expression?
Think about these questions during this video.

Before I send you on your way to practice reading, we need to review a few vocabulary words
involving punctuation and how punctuation helps you read with expression.
I have included a sheet for you to use to follow along with the video,
use the video to create your own pictures in the picture box.
Print off the sheet before viewing the video to fill it out during the video.

Now it's your turn; I want to hear you read with your best expression!
Grab a book, preferably one on your level, and start to read.
After you have read for at least 20 minutes,
find a spot in the book that uses expression in its reading.
Then, head over to flip grid and create a video of yourself reading.
Requirements:
Your name
The title of your book
3 or more sentences worth of reading
Expression in your voice
Have fun reading! ~Mrs. Wolf
